John Groover McDuffie is a multi-talented musician accomplished in many musical styles on guitar, steel guitar, bass and trumpet; also a vocalist, producer, composer and recording engineer He migrated to LA 40 years ago from Binghamton, NY
McDuffie’s CV read’s like a veritable “Who’s he?” of the music business. In addition to his work with Coyote Moon John performs in the LA area with The John McDuffie Trio, Eileen Carey, Skip Heller and Voodoo Five, Lynda Kay, Hot Club of LA, LAPD’s swing and concert bands, and other artists who inexplicably dial his number. He served as Musical Director, guitarist and background vocalist for pop icon Rita Coolidge for 20+ years; other highlights include work with Chuck E. Weiss and the Goddamn Liars, Juice Newton, Engelbert Humperdink, and many LA area artists you’ve never heard of, most with good reason.
Since 1990, John has owned and operated Grooveolator Music recording studio. Past productions: Rita Coolidge (A Rita Coolidge Christmas; Rita Coolidge With Love); The Sound of My Own Tune - an Artists Tribute to Patty Booker; Lynda Kay (Black and Gold); B.J. Thomas (Latest and Greatest). John wrote and recorded the score for the independent film The Fan, written by Judy Tenuta and Emo Phillips, starring Ms Tenuta and “Weird Al” Yankovic, directed by Brent Carpenter.
John is also available for weddings and bar mitzvahs.
