Singer-songwriter Billy Eli is marked by his Texas roots like a neon sign – the boots, the Lone Star, the unmistakable twang in his voice. Which is why his songs sneak up on people in a way that lets the songs seep into their head before they even know what has hit them.
Eli’s past is bona fide – born and raised in east Texas, high school years cowboying at sale lots, years working on oil pipelines, more years playing honky tonk dives all over the country. A string of albums has won him a near cult following both in the US and Europe. At home, he’s raised kids, including a son with autism that inspired his work fundraising for various special needs groups. And after decades of observing human behavior on the road, he spent the pandemic years when he was sidelined from traveling obtaining a bachelor’s degree in psychology and is currently mere months away from a Masters degree.
He left Texas a few years ago and now lives in New England, where he is still walking up and down the street in his cowboy boots.
